Battle of the Badges Backpack Food Drive

A friendly competition between local law, EMS, fire departments, and dispatch. Participating departments include Bonne Terre Police, Desloge Fire/Police, Doe Run Fire, Farmington Fire, Leadwood Fire, St. Francois County Ambulance District/IAFF Local 3705, St. Francois County Joint Commission Center & St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department

Farmington Sports Complex Renaming Ceremony

The City of Farmington will hold a re-dedication ceremony on October 4, 2024, at 4 pm to rename the Farmington Sports Complex after long-time Farmington Parks and Recreation employee, Bud Norman.

Bud Norman was employed with the City of Farmington from 1977 to 2022 and worked as the Parks and Recreation Director. Bud is well remembered for his work with the department and for creating many programs, including the Wiggle and Giggle Fishing Derby. He was an integral part of the development of the city’s parks and recreation facilities. Notable achievements include the development of Engler Park, Farmington Sk8 Park, and numerous other recreational amenities.

The Farmington Sports Complex, located at 1100 Sainte Genevieve Avenue in Farmington, consists of 4 baseball/softball fields, batting cages, a playground, and concessions. It regularly hosts games and tournaments and is open to the public. After the re-dedication, work will begin on the renovation of the sports complex, including a new concession stand, new bathrooms, signage, backstops, fencing, dugouts, and equipment.

Old Miner’s Day

The weekend of events will kick-off on Friday evening, October 4th at 5 starting with the Tiny Tot Contest and Miss Viburnum Scholarship Pageant, which will take place in the Elmer P. Beard Gymnasium. Then on Saturday the 5th, starting at 9 am, there’s going to be free mine tours, live music and entertainment, kids games & activities, craft vendors and awesome food booths set up in the Viburnum Shopping Center. That Saturday night at 6:30, it will be special entertainment from Inspyral Circus who will perform in the Elmer P. Beard Gymnasium. Old Miners Days also features a children’s parade, the grand parade, and a whole lot more.

Fall Harvest Festival

The event will include a handmade item and craft fair featuring a variety of vendors from Missouri, as well as fall crafts and activities for kids. Food and concession items will be available for purchase. All activities will take place in and around Shelter #2 in the Big River Day-Use Area.

Potential vendors of handmade and handcrafted items for the festival should contact the park office at 636-586-5768 to receive an application for the event.

Terre du Lac Fall Festival

The event will feature two bands, an MC, a Kids Zone, a car show, and cornhole tournaments, and is set to host 60 craft vendors. Craft vendors are available from 10 am to 4 pm.

10th Annual Mineral Area Bluegrass Festival

Entry: $5 for adults | Kids 12 & under free

Music featuring Billy Yates, Final Authority, Route 67, The Baker Family, Peyton Moses, Open Highway, The West County Concert Choir & more.

Food & other family attractions will be available with a special Veteran’s salute and tribute to local law enforcement, EMS and service men & women.

Friends of the Firehouse Fish Fry

There will be a donation table set up at the Fish Fry for the Battle of the Badges Food Drive. Donated items should be easy for a child to heat up in the microwave or eat on their own.

 

A Small Town Christmas Parade

The first annual Small Town Christmas Parade will start at the Old West County High School on Main Street and end at Santa’s Wonderland at the City Park. Kids will be able to see Santa at the end of the parade.

Those who would like to appear in the parade should contact Leadwood City Hall.
